Explore the story

Vita Aeterna shows life as it is: beautiful, terrible, absurd.
Human life is only a small part of this vast, chaotic picture of the universe. Learning to experience every moment — joy as much as suffering — may be the closest thing we have to eternal life.

Since the last down of times

there is an abyss,

an appetite, a power,

a small dish of spacetime to season and devour –

all that together gave itself a rather frugal name of God.

From “Genesis Fairytales”

a poem by Franz Wertvollen

MEANING

Sic est vita aeterna in gloria et
miseria (lat.)

— Such is eternal life, in all its glory
and misery.

Symbols

The elongated blossoms

deliberately evoke phallic forms, an ancient
symbol of fertility, creation, and the
generative forces of life.

FERTILITY

Concealed within the painting

is a symbol of feminine fertility,
repeated seven times. Can you find
all seven?

Imagine it...
